Outstanding reliability is a key feature of the Apollo low profile detector range which is designed to the latest British Standard specification and has been tried and tested in literally thousands of different applications.
Ionisation Detectors
Air in the dual sensing chambers is irradiated to produce ions that travel to the positive and negative electrodes, creating a current flow. As smoke enters the outer chamber, the flow drops and voltage increases.
Optical Smoke Detectors
The optical smoke detector uses an internal pulsing LED and a photo-diode at an obtuse angle. In the event of smoke entering the chamber, the light pulse from the LED will be scattered and registered by the photo-diode.
Heat Detectors
The heat detector operates by using a matched pair of thermistors to sense heat. One thermistor is exposed to the ambient termputure, the other is sealed. In normal conditions, the two thermistors register similar temperatures, but, on the development of fire, the temperature recorded by the exposed thermistor will increase rapidly, resulting in an imbalance of the thermistors and causing the detector to change to the alarm state.
Rate of Rise Detectors
The rate of rise detector is designed to detect a fire as the temperature increases, but they also have a fixed upper limit at which the detector will go into alarm if the rate of temperature increase has been too slow to trigger the detector earlier.
Fixed Heat Detectors
Fixed Heat Detectors only change to the alarm state at a preset temperature.
Series 60 Range
The conventional series 60 range is available in ionisation, photo optical and heat variations. All detectors come complete with a built in LED alarm indicator, and a universal mounting base is available for all detector heads.
Discovery Range
Designed for Addressable Systems, the Discovery takes the advanced features
of XP95 and adds new dimensions of sophistication - giving you total reassurance
in installations where adaptability to changing conditions and protection
against unwanted alarms are paramount. Even in the unlikely event of control
equipment processor failure, Discovery is still able to perform.
